THERE ARE PLENTY OF REASONS!!!!!!!

Smart 3yo AMELIA'S REASON showed by his devastating win at Belmont today that all is not lost with this former top class 2yo. As a young horse I really believed that this horse was capable of reaching great heights. Whether it was poor attitude on the side of the horse or poor training or placement on the side of the trainer we will never know however it was great to see him back somewhere near his best today.

After his last start failure I was ready to throw the towel in as far as this horse was concerned. I did however believe that the poor performances were a result of problems between his ears more than anything else. I now have to admit that the problem may have been a bit between his ears but could have been more to do with the fact that I was reading him wrong.

There is no doubt that the horse is now both fitter and happier than he was at his first few starts for this preparation and I hope to keep him there. The horse raced today some 25kg lighter than he ever did during his last preparation and that is a combination of a more controlled diet and a change in his exercise routine.

The big test is still to come with the horse as I am not convinced that we beat anything of any note today. What I do know is that the horse was in the right frame of mind to perform today and that if we can produce him in similar fashion in future, he is more than capable of winning some nice short course races in the future.

Lets hope we can keep him performing and giving the huge syndicate of owners more pleasure over the coming months.
