BUSY DAY AT ASCOT ON SATURDAY

This weekend sees our stable have it's busiest race day for quite a long time when we head to Ascot with as many as six runners. The busy time coincides with the return to the stables of my son Dion and his girlfriend Sarah who have both been travelling the world on a working holiday, gaining plenty of valuable information and experience along the way. I can't say that the busy day is a result of them both being back at work but more a coincidence however it could signal the start of a few more busy days over the next few weeks.

We head out to Ascot with ASCOLI in race one, ALMOHAD in R3, ROSE OF MAY in R7, HIFALUTIN in R8 and CROWN OF CAITLIN and BASKERVILLE STREET in R9.Whilst ALMOHAD is a short priced favourite for his step up to 2200m, I also feel that most of the others are also good chances in their respective races. ALMOHAD is chasing his third win on the trot and he has done nothing wrong since his last start to suggest that he wont be hard to beat again tomorrow.

CROWN OF CAITLIN won her third race when again winning first up some weeks ago and she is also a good chance in her race late in the day. All my other runners had very good excuses when unplaced at their last starts and any one of them could shake the life out of their race tomorrow without surprising. Between getting caught wide, getting badly interfered with or simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time makes all their performances a lot better than they read on paper.

If we can get amongst them early on tomorrow it could be the start to an exciting month of racing coming up.
