RATINGS BASED HANDICAPPING AND PROGRAMMING

Here we are only three weeks away from the first day of RATINGS BASED PROGRAMMING and HANDICAPPING and I have yet to meet anyone who fully understands or agrees with the new system.

Now I am not here to knock or support the new system, however surely if we are changing something as important as the handicapping system or the types of races that we can run in, we should be changing for the better. Surely we should be putting in place a system which is easier to understand than the current system, more nationally and internationally uniform and a system which improves our racing even further.

I think I have a fairly good grasp on the way the new system is designed to work and I don't have a problem with R.B.H. or R.B.P. What I have a problem with is the many anomallies that exist within the new system. Here we are with the perfect opportunity to create a very very good system, however the apparent rush to implement the system, means that there are still a lot of bugs to be ironed out which need not be there.

There is a meeting organised with the chief handicapper from R.W.W.A. on Friday. Hopefully the industry participants are given the chance to voice thier concerns to the powers that be and any problems are attended to quickly. I have my doubts!
