GUYNO TO TACKLE KALGOORLIE

Quality galloper GUYNO, a WATC DERBY winner and the 2009 Perth Cup winner, is off to Kalgoorlie on Saturday to run first up in Sunday's Coolgardie Cup. Contrary to media reports this morning, the horse was never a doubtful starter and had the ill informed journo bothered to check his facts prior to going to print, he would have been told the same. In fact I nearly fell over when I read the story as I had only finished booking my air fare the previous night. Anyway enough of that or I will upset someone again.

GUYNO has been specifically set for the Kalgoorlie round however we were always going to take it one race at a time with him. If he showed that he did not handle the track or the travel or the heavy weights he is continually asked to carry, then we would restrict him to some of the sprint races in Perth over the next few months. If he goes well and is not handicapped out of the races, we will continue on towards the second and third legs of the cups treble.

GUYNO last raced in the Bunbury Cup where I felt he should have finished a lot closer. The horse was then spelled and has been in work for quite a while down at Amelia Park Farm in preparation for Sundays return. Whilst the horse has not had the benefit of a trial or a race, I am confident that it wont be his fitness level which is of any concern to him on Sunday.

I haven't been up to Kalgoorlie with a runner in any of the big ones for a while now after being a regular in the late 80's right through the 90's and had a thorough ball each time I went there. Things seemed to change for one reason or another after that and I can't remember the last time I was in town. I hope to catch up with some old mates up there over the weekend over a cold ale or two and maybe tell or re-tell a few lies! Maybe nothings changed after all!

MISSING IN ACTION AGAIN!!!!!

I know I keep making excuses for my inability to keep this site regularly updated however I do have a genuine reason this time. Honest!! Apart from being "flat out like a lizard drinking" of late, I have had some problems with loading up info. In fact I still can't load up photo's and I have a couple of good one's that I would love to upload!? I think that's geek talk for wanting to put them onto my web page!!! As I have only recently passed my basic computer skills test, I can tell you with utmost confidence that I am not capable of fixing problems. I am told it has something to do with the format in which they were sent to me. I knew that!

Meanwhile I really would love to have more time to keep the site more up to date and I will do my best to do so. Over the next few months there are a number of horses set to make either their debut or their return to the race track so there should be plenty to talk about and hopefully plenty of results.

The first of these was GROZNY who won first up last Thursday. The second was WILD CHARGER who ran second first up today. The next one is my old mate GUYNO, who will run first up on Sunday in the Coolgardie Cup. Here's hoping.
