Autumn Team Ready To Go

The next few months will be very busy for my stable with plenty of horses ready to resume racing.

I can only hope that the next few months proves to be as exciting as it is shaping up for this stable. If it does we should have a lot of fun with hopefully a winner or two along the way.

The Autumn team is headed by the very promising GUYNO who is being set for the W.A. DERBY. We have CELT CODE being set for the W.A. OAKS and although she may not be the classiest filly around I am confident in her ability to stay the trip.

We have a couple of nice young horses ready to step out for the big two year old races with LA COUREUSE and SECRET VAULT heading the charge. Other two year olds to watch out for include GLEN ERIN LASS, TUDOUR COMIC, SNOOKIE THE BOOKIE and BLACK HABIT.

Lightly raced three year olds like OUTSIDE EDGE, STRIKEN, FORWARD THRUST and KATEVIE will ensure that the older horses like PRICELESS SYMBOL, SOLWAY LASS and ALCEDO keep on performing to hold their places in the team.

New Web Site Nearly Ready

Work continues on new web site and I am told we are nearly there.

As I mentioned about a month ago, I am having my web site completely revamped and I am reliably informed that everything is nearly ready to go!

The new site will be a bit more modern and easier for me to load up information. It will also have a spell check which is something sadly missing from this site. As I have also said before, computers are not my forte so I am in the hands of others as to when things will be ready to go.

Meanwhile we have a number of horses ready to resume and the next few months should be a lot of fun.

A bit of toilet humour!!

A bit of toilet humour!!

The following are the "clean" ones that I managed to sort out amongst a pile of one liners written in men's and women's toilets throughout the USA. I won't tell you the name of the young lady who sent them to me.

Two runners for Saturday

Two runners for Saturday.

Blescay and Priceless Symbol to fly the stable flag.

As we start to warm up for the busy season as far as this stable is concerned, we saddle up two runners at Ascot on Saturday and I am very happy with both of them.

Blescay did a few things wrong first up and was caught wide for most of the way before being forced very wide on the corner. She should have finished a lot closer.

Priceless Symbol has kept up his good work since winning two in a row earlier in the month and there is nothing to say that he can't make it three straight in the last race of the day. The field is a bit stronger but he is fit and in winning form.

Priceless Symbol makes it two straight.

There is nothing like an 8/1 winner to bring a smile to a part owners face.

Quiet weekend ahead

No runners this weekend but plenty to come.

We haven't had a lot of runners during the past month but things will really start to hot up in the coming weeks.

Priceless Symbol has been flying the flag well with wins at his last two starts and with a bit of luck he will be able to add to his earnings in the coming weeks. My two 2yo winners, La Coureuse and Secret Vault will be ready to resume in February and there are a couple of others ready to make their debut.

Guyno is back from a short let up and is only a few weeks off returning as are horses like Celt Code, King of the Stalls, Sheradize, Glamourzon, Annagassan Outside Edge and Alcedo. Solway lass will be dropped back in class and distance and is still capable of picking up another race or two in town.

Royale Harvest, Forward Thrust and Striken will all be ready in early April.

Priceless Symbol makes it back to back wins

Two city wins in a row for Priceless Symbol only five days apart.

Underrated galloper Priceless Symbol made it two wins in a row with a brilliant win at Ascot on Saturday. After putting in a sensational finishing burst on Cup Day to win well over 1100m, Priceless Symbol showed his liking for the short course, by again blowing away his opposition over 1000m at Ascot only five days later.

Priceless Symbol has been racing in top form for the past six weeks and the way he won on Saturday suggests that he is capable of doing it all again if a suitable race can be found for him. Dion, who has been riding the horse, certainly has developed an affinity with him and seems to know just when to press the go button with him.

The horse is owned in partnership between Mr Peter Walsh and some long time and very staunch stable supporters in Colin and Faye Teede, Lyle and Marj Bailey and Mike and Jen Kikeros. Colin and his group have been long time stable clients and I was lucky enough to have had some top class performers for them over the years. One of my all time favourite horses Scouts Honour who was raced by Colin Teede and partners won 15 city races for us.... no mean feat in anyone’s language.

Although Priceless Symbol still has a way to go to match Scouts Honour's feats, I am sure the crew are getting just as much enjoyment out of his wins.

It sure is nice winning races for nice people.

Perth Cup Day Winner

Priceless Symbol maintains my excellent Perth Cup Day record with a excellent win in the last race of the day.

Good Start To New Year

Priceless Symbol keeps Cup Day record intact!

I can not remember the last time that I had a runner on Cup Day and didn't win a race. I am not sure of the reason why but Perth Cup Day seems to be very very lucky for me.

Over the years, if I have had a runner on Cup day I have won a race and yesterday was no exception. I must admit that I was not super confident going into the mounting yard with a runner who's only win was a maiden at York last season however his form of late had been very good.

Dion rides this horse in great style and yesterdays ride was no exception. Dion settled the horse well back before weaving his way through the field coming to the corner and getting a split in the straight. Priceless Symbol is no champion but if he continues to race in his current form there are more wins in store for him.

As I said, this win continues a lucky streak for me on Cup Day. Other winners that I can remember include Turbonator in the same race last year, King Canute in the Cup in 2004, Zedavite, Highwood, Sheer Grey, Business Beat, Scouts Honour and Life. Even back in my ridding days I won on Ink Street on cup day. He must have been a good horse!!
