Amelia Park Club

The Next Amelia Park Club

We are now in the planning stages to start the next Amelia Park Club. The sales in January and February should bring some great stock and it is perfect timing for us to start up our next club. We are planning to get expressions of interest in January and hopefully have you all on board again for another fun and exciting time. If you have any friends of family that will be interested in joining our syndicate please let them know there is another on the way.

After we have purchased our horses we would like to have a "Horse Parade" and a BBQ and drinks day at Amelia Park Farm in Vasse on Sunday, March 11th from 12.00am so keep it free and we will notify you of more information as we progress into 2007.

We will be in touch but for now Peter Walsh and Amelia Park Farm would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Very Lucky 2007.

Quiet Saturday.

No runners at Ascot on Saturday.

With no runners to saddle up at Ascot today, it gives me a chance to head down to the WACA and watch a bit of Test Cricket live.

I do love a good game of cricket and this one is shaping up as a pearler. I figure I better get down and watch some as soon as possible as there is nothing to say that this game will go the full distance!

Ideal weather for a cold ale or two as well.

Have a good weekend and catch you all at Ascot on Wednesday when I will have a couple of nice runners.

Changes To Website

New website format and address in new year.

As we move into the new year there will be a number of changes to my web site. At this stage I am not sure of exactly when everything will be ready to go, however I will hope to have as smooth a change over as possible and I am looking forward to the new format.

As I've mentioned before, computers are not my forte, however I can follow instructions and I can only hope that I can work out what is going on.

Until then, everything will continue on as normal on this site.

Autumn Carnival runners getting ready

Autumn Carnival runners getting ready

Nice team of young horses being primed for big races.

Without an older horse to aim at the bigger plums over the summer carnival a lot of my horses are being primed for the Autumn races. Some of the horses listed below are sure to make their presence felt during the following months.

GUYNO: A real W.A. DERBY horse. can win on the way through as well.

CELT CODE: Shows a liking for a bit of groung and an ideal OAKS filly.

SECRET VAULT: Two out of two so far and a real KARRAKATTA chance.

LA COUREUSE: Speedy type. Will take some catching in 2yo races.

GLAMOURZON. Honest mare. May measure up for Bunbury Cup.

KING OF THE STALLS: Has had problems but heaps of ability.

ALCEDO: Another one with real ability given lots of time.

SOLWAY LASS: Consistent mare who is always a chance in any race.

TOM'S TALE: Unraced 2yo showing plenty of ability.

There are a number of other promising young unraced horses ready to make their debut. Keep an eye on them!!

Out with the old. In with the new.

Quiet times for next few weeks as rebuild in progress.

Since our big double at Ascot on December 2nd with GUYNO and SECRET VAULT, things have been fairly quiet here at the Luciani Stables.

That should in no way be taken to mean we are resting on our laurels. Without a genuine big race runner for races like the Railway and Perth Cup, we have been concentrating our efforts into getting our young team educated and prepared for the Autumn carnival. A lot of planning goes into having horses ready to race at specific times of the year and even more planning to make sure that the horse peaks at the right time. It doesn't just happen. In fact I can't say that I have ever won a major race as an afterthought!! Winning races like the Karrakatta Plate or W.A. Derby take months of planning.

Secret Vault makes it two from two.

David and Jean Law get in on the act for the lead in after Saturday's great win.

Everyone loves a winner and that is exactly what the looks on the faces of these two happy part owners appear to say on Saturday.

Whoa There Girl

Dion appears to be telling Secret Vault to pull up as they reach the line and that she has done enough and can take it easy now.

I love these photo's which show the horse with all four feet off the ground. You would think that Secret Vault was posing for the photo.

T.J.Smith Trophy Presentation

A very happy group attend the presentation after Guyno wins the T.J. SMITH Trophy at Ascot on Saturday.

A bit of glamour at the race track!!!

As if the win wasn't good enough but to be lead back to scale by the best looking young lady on the race track..... now that is a winner.

Guyno is lead back to scale by the stunning Maggie Elliott, daughter of part owner Helen Court after his win in the T.J. SMITH Trophy on Saturday. About time we started to see some real glamour out at the races!!! (Hollands Photographics)

Guyno hits the line strongly.

After promising to do it for a while, Guyno finally put it all together on the weekend.

Another Double For The Stable

GUYNO and SECRET VAULT bring up stable double.

It is always nice to go to the races with a couple of winning chances. It is even nicer when one or both of them happen to win. That was the case yesterday with Guyno winning race one and Secret Vault taking out race three.

As we all know, things don't always go the way we plan however yesterday was one of those times when things went the way we had hoped. GUYNO finally got up over a bit of ground and showed his liking for the extra trip with a gutsy grinding effort to win over 1800m.

Two races later SECRET VAULT showed just how much she had improved from her first up run with a strong performance to muscle out the opposition and win in good time. It was also nice to see her stablemate SNOOKIE THE BOOKIE get home well in the same event to suggest a win is not far away for her. She will have a short break and be back when the races get a bit longer and she strengthens up a bit.

Secret Vault is also likely to have a short break and then be aimed at the rich Autumn two year old races.

All in all, not a bad day at the office!!!!

If Only!!!!!

As the saying goes...... You can't have your cake and eat it too.

It was this time last year that everyone in the Amelia Park Club was singing the praises of their gutsy little horse LOCK THE VAULT and daring to dream of what the future may hold with him. A week later he stepped out and ran a mighty second in the Fruit 'n' Veg Stakes and we began to talk 2006 Railway Stakes. That all seemed natural enough considering he was meeting and beating most of the three year olds around the place at the time.

Turn the clock forward twelve months and it seems ironical that when I opened up the paper this morning, the headlines said "Scenic Shot backed into Railway favouritism." Taking nothing away from Scenic Shot, and I wish his connections the very best for today’s race, but little "OCCY" did have a very good record against him and I have no doubt what so ever that he would have been in the race right up to his ears today!

It would have been very very exciting for everyone to be out there today screaming home the little black flash in the Railway Stakes instead of sitting at home without a runner on the day. As they say..... You can't have your cake and eat it too!!!!!!

Four runners for Railway day.

We don't have a runner in the big one but we do have a couple of chances in the support races.

I am looking forward to today's race meeting at Ascot even though I don't have a runner in the Railway Stakes.

We start the day off with a runner in the first race. GUYNO looks well placed over 1800m and meets his rivals well at the weights. We have two runners in race three and once again, the promising filly Secret Vault should run another mighty race. Our last runner, FULL OF SASS may be a roughie in the betting however her work suggests she will not disgrace herself.

Happy punting!!!!
